    Honored for his contributions to the Warsaw community, Neal Carlson received a Distinguished Hoosier Award at the annual meeting of the Warsaw Community Development Corp.

Carlson was cited for his work with the Kosciusko County Foundation and the Kosciusko County Historical society, and for spearheading the rededication of the Kosciusko County courthouse.

    In neighboring Atwood, the new Atwood Cafe, built by Kosciusko County Sheriff Al Rovenstine, is opening this coming Monday, possibly. Manager will be Rovenstine's daughter, Nanette Good. From reports, it's a handsome addition to the village. The original cafe burned down June 4.

November 16 1931

    A double silver medal oratorical contest, with girls of the seventh and eighth grades of West Wayne School and matrons of the community taking part, was given in the first Christian Church of this city. The contest was sponsored by the local WTCU.

Winners of the matron's contest was Nellie Kilian, whose subject was, "Snyder Decides for Prohibition." Madene Winks, member of the eighth grade at the West Wayne School, was the successful contestant in the pupils' contest with her splendid recitation of the poem "Clean Politics," by Theodore Roosevelt.
