    The Sacred Heart elementary soccer team won the American League championship in the Warsaw Community Schools system with a 5-1 record this fall. Members of the team are Phillip Boggs, Andrew Fields, Kale Elkins, Rudy Ramirez, Eric Grossnickle, Michael Marcuccilli, Matt Krizmanich, Ryan Kreager, Kevin Smith, Chris Waites, Jamie Ponce, Kyle Masur, Adam Pifer, Joey Woodling, Isaac Wildman, Brendan Beck and John Gremling. Coaches are Lew Pifer, Mark McCormack, Woody Woodling and Steve Henn.

    The small community of Atwood was in a state of pandemonium Tuesday night.

The commotion was for a good reason. Residents from all areas of the county drove to Atwood to celebrate the upset victory of Republican challenger Alan Rovenstine, who defeated incumbent Democrat Sheriff John Hammersley to become the first Republican sheriff Kosciusko County has elected in 20 years.

    New officers were elected at the carry-in dinner held by the Sunshine Home Demonstration Club at the home of Mrs. Don DeCamp, Pierceton.

Mrs. James Tuttle was elected president, Mrs. Ralph Baumgardner, vice president, Mrs. Merrill Kirkpatrick, secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Dale Wright, assistant secretary, Mrs. James Outcelt, chorister, and Mrs. Gordon Tuttle, pianist.

    Eleanor Benedict, Priscilla Lockwood and Kathryn Weaver entertained three tables of bridge at the North home on North High Street, complimentary to the birthday anniversaries of Estelle Lynch and George Bowser. Favors for high scores were won by Betty Zimmerly of the women and George Bowser of the men.
