    It was no joke that Brook Kuhl, 7, of North Webster, was named the grand prize winner of the Milford Community Halloween costume party Saturday. Kuhl, son of Vickie Kuhl, dressed as the Joker and was pictured with a special guest at the party, Happy the Hobo from TV Channel 55. More than 100 children participated in the contest. The party was sponsored by the Milford Lions Club with assistance from the American Legion Auxiliary.

    Bob Moyer of Warsaw will be lead vocalist when the Happy Choralairs sing Sunday in the Mount Tabor Church, six miles south of Nappanee. All families are invited to attend the presentation, according to Jim McKibbin, church pastor.

November 1 1949

    It was reported that John L. Noble, Pierceton, had the unusual experience of wrecking a Motor Cargo semi truck last week and moving the Mason-Dixon line at the same time.

A front spring on the truck broke, causing Noble to lose control of the vehicle on a curve. The truck turned over on the Mason-Dixon line monument, which is 6 feet high, and skidded it with the truck 15 feet into Pennsylvania. The accident happened on the Pennsylvania and Maryland state line.

    Dr. B.E. Durbin, chiropractor, announced the installation of a Neurocalometer, a recently perfected mechanical invention which is used in diagnosing human physical ailments through locating the cause in the spine. The public is welcome to visit the Durbin & Durbin offices and inspect the new invention.
