    Kosciusko Community Hospital employees observed National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a Denim Day. Employees paid $5 to wear jeans to work, with proceeds going to the KCH Cancer Foundation. The fundraiser was organized by the radiology and oncology departments. Participating were Allison Lehmann, Kami Johnson, Steph Damon, Missy Walter, Dr. Marvin Walker, Brenda Snyder, Mark Clary, Bev Miller, Jayme Banker and Rena Swihart.

November 1 1981

    Air Force Reservist TSgt. Charles W. Lawrence, North Webster, has been awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal at recent ceremonies conducted in his honor.

Assigned as a fuels supervisor/instructor in the 434th Tactical Fighter Wing's 930th Mobility Support Flight, Sgt. Lawrence has more than 11 years of Air Force Reserve Service. He was cited for his outstanding skills, job knowledge and dedication to duty ... while working long hours under adverse conditions.

    Something new has been added at the Palestine public fishing area by Halloween pranksters. Two nights ago they hauled a public convenience building to the site. The relic of the "good old days" is believed to have come from Burket.


75 Years Ago

November 1 1931

    Ethel Baker, a former Warsaw girl and one of the first librarians of the local library, was made president of the Indiana Library Association at Indianapolis. Baker is now librarian at the South Bend library.
