    If the towns of South Whitley and Pierceton appear a bit dead Friday afternoon, it's because their school spirit is alive and kicking in Indianapolis. Many residents will be transplanting their spirit from the area to the Hoosier Dome when the Wildcats play the Tell City Marksmen for the class 2A state football championship. It will be the first state title game in any sport for the Wildcats.

    Longtime local painting contractor Lester (Bud) Vandermark of Warsaw has recently purchased Hall Hardware Inc. (South Buffalo Street) from Norman (Laddie) and Betty Hoffer, 1125 Country Club Drive.

    James O. Magner, 79, Warsaw, completed six miles of a nine-mile walking contest at Fort Wayne a few days ago and said he wasn't tired. He proved it by strolling over to the YMCA to get his overcoat.
