Warsaw Elks Lodge has assumed the responsibility of the community Thanksgiving dinner at Center Lake Pavilion from Ray Compton, who has held the dinner for the last three years.
Building trades is a new vocational class being taught to 16 boys at Wawasee High School this year. They are learning on-the-job aspects of building such as masonry, concrete work, carpentry, electrical and plumbing. The goal of the course is to help a student gain working knowledge of a trade so he has something to offer a future employer.
Carl Burt, superintendent of city schools, announced Monday that the Warsaw schools are well supplied with coal and should survive the present coal strike without any difficulty. Coming after the announcement at Goshen that schools there might have to close toward the latter part of this week, Burt's statement is of high interest to local citizens.
Persons owning property in the vicinity of Bronson and Clark Avenue would like to know what has become of a petition they presented to the Warsaw City Council weeks ago requesting that something be done by the city council on behalf of 10 or 12 families residing in that part of the city who have unsuccessfully attempted to have the Winona Lake and Water Co. furnish them with electric light service.
