    HOLLAND, Mich. - Chad Johnson, a WCHS graduate, has been awarded a monogrammed blanket for his participation in athletics at Hope College.

The orange and blue "H" blankets were presented by the college's alumni H-Club, which honored senior athletics during a reception April 26. The award blankets are presented to seniors who earned at least three varsity letters while at Hope. One of the varsity letters must have been earned during the student's senior year.

    Tippecanoe Valley girls' basketball star Cathy Welch is all smiles this morning as she prepares to sign a national letter of intent to attend the University of Nevada at Las Vegas on a basketball scholarship. She is the daughter of Joanne and George Welch.

    Michael Disher and Charles Penn received silver and gold Cub Scout award pins at a recent meeting of the Syracuse Club Scout Pack 56. One-year pins were awarded to Dick Kowallik, Roger Bornaman, Tom Michael and Jim Gaff. Bobcat awards went to James Stefanski, Richard Bitner, Mickey Jones and Tom Smith.

    Frances Jennings, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J.M. Jennings, had one of the leading parts in the senior class play at Manchester College Friday evening. She carried the role of Mildred Buckley in Frank Baker's famous play "Lightnin'."
