    A 10-year drought for Tippecanoe Valley High School ended as Jody Yochum accepted a basketball scholarship to attend Tri-State University and play basketball this coming year. Yochum, who is a three-sports standout at Tippecanoe Valley, becomes the first player since 1978, when Cathy Welch signed to play at UNLV, to attend college on a basketball scholarship.

    Rosanne Barker, Connie Engleberth and Belinda Bryant have been named valedictorians of the Whitko High School 1973 graduating class of 163 seniors. These three senior girls completed a grade index of 4.0, which constitutes a straight-A average.

    Marshall Griswold and his partner, Harold Hartman, advanced to the finals of the county domino tournament by ousting Glee Long and Art Rhodes in the top bracket semi-finals. These two men won seven games and lost only three against Long and Rhodes.

May 9 1923

    The Cummings big auto truck, loaded with 106 bales of hay, more that six tons, brought the load from Nappanee to Warsaw last Friday to the Yarger feed store. Piled high on the trucks it was necessary to remove telephone wires for the load to pass under. Local scales were unable to weigh it until it was loaded on three smaller trucks.
