    Grace Village Retirement Community recently hosted a volunteer appreciation reception in honor of the more than 12,000 volunteer hours given to the Village in 1994. Audrey Henderson is 1994 Student Volunteer of the Year; Al Miller is Resident Volunteer of the Year; and Carolyn Lindemuth is Community Volunteer of the Year.

    Christopher L. Phells, a 1968 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, is now a practicing physician assistant at Wurtsmith Air Force Base, Mich.

Chris, son of Mrs. G.F. Shildroth and the late Sam Phells, received his bachelor's degree of physician's assistant from Oklahoma University after completing a two-year course in the United States Air Force P.A. Program-Phase I at Sheppard AFB, and Phase II at the USAF Hospital, United States Air Force Academy, Colo.

    Warsaw High School athletic award winners at the annual Rotary-Kiwanis-Lions Club banquet are Max Truex, cross-country; Fred Phillips, football; Jack Evans, basketball; Ken Stone, track; Reid Woodling, who accepted the gold baseball for his son, Bing, now at Butler University; and Harvey Hostetler, who received the Fisher Football Award.

May 9 1930

    Harry Hall, manager of Jet White grocery No. 1 on Buffalo Street didn't waste any gasoline on long trips into the country woods looking for mushrooms.

This morning he stepped right into the back yard of the Buffalo Street store and a few feet from the rear doorway picked seven big, juicy, luscious, fresh, homegrown, solid delectable fungi. Tonight he will banquet on them.
