    FRANKLIN - Ryan Sparrow is serving as chief photographer of The Franklin, the award-winning student newspaper at Franklin College.

The newspaper recently received an All-American rating from the Associated Collegiate Press. It collected four of five possible marks of distinction for issues published during the fall of 1991. He is the son of Dennis and Kathy Sparrow, Warsaw.

    Warsaw eighth-grader Dan Fenix and freshman Rob Reneker won fourth-place medals at the United States Wrestling Federation District V junior nationals in Joliet, Ill., last week.

Competing in the 13-14 age group, Fenix earned his medal at 155 and Reneker at 145. Six-year-old Jay Wagner finished third at the 45 pound weight class of 8 and under.

    Phyllis Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Cook, was elected president of the Methodist Youth Fellowship of the Bourbon church at a recent business and social meeting held in the parsonage home of Rev. and Mrs. Garfield Steedman. Jim Bates was elected vice president at the same meeting.

    A number of local girls won places in the high school roundup held at Purdue University. The canning judging team, composed of Madeline Stoner, Olive Hall and Etta Cook, took second place and Madeline Stoner took third place in the individual contest.

Helen Smith placed third in the individual sewing judging contest. In the baking judging contest, the Warsaw team composed of Dorothy Aker, Virginia Pittenger and Lois Kyle took third place.
