    A poem by Gene Hughes of Mentone was recently published in "Reflections of Light," an anthology of poetry complied by The National Library of Poetry.

Hughes' poem is titled "A Person's Worth" and the main subject is changing values. It was one of only nine selected to be read on an audio cassette.

    The first place team in the Michiana Women's Tennis League were Warsaw's Hot Flashes, representing the Warsaw Racquet Club. Team members are Margaret Mauzy, Gloria Dalton, Jo Lemon, Phyl Landis, Carol Sholl, Carolyn Davidson, Joan Baldwin and Verlyn Hearn.

May 7 1955

    Kay Lancaster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Lancaster, of South Whitley, was crowned Riley Queen of the Sunshine Society at a program held recently in the South Whitley High School auditorium.

Lancaster, a junior in the school, was crowned queen by Karen Meadow, vice president of the society, and was escorted by Larry Cottrell, also a junior.

    The Royal Neighbor Lodge held a business meeting with 22 members in attendance. Two candidates, Earl Shaffer and Lawrence Smith, were initiated.
