    Carly Beer, 9, of Milford, and her brother, Trent, 11, both scored high at a recent national chess tournament in Detroit. Carla received a trophy for her second-place finish in the girls' primary division out of 225 contestants. Trent placed 70th out of 325 contestants in the elementary division.

    Keith A. Foster, son of Charles D. Foster, Route 1, Box 343, Etna Green, has won a tuition scholarship by the Indiana College of Business and Technology, Indianapolis. He is graduating from Triton Junior/Senior High School at Bourbon. Foster is planning to study to become a computer programmer.

    Anita Barnett is the queen of the May Festival in Silver Lake and members of her court are Doris Harden, Marilyn Fruit, Kay Chapple and Dianne Chapple. Her coronation evening was the climax of the sophomore May Festival.

    The Warsaw Basket Co., with a stock capitalization of $50,000, started operations this morning in the plant formerly occupied by the Warsaw Manufacturing Co., North Detroit Street. The basket company starts off with a force of 33 men and women and needs more employees.
