    Jill Sommers, Silver Lake, received National Junior Angus Association bronze and silver awards from James Fisher, director of junior activities for the American Angus Association. Sommers, 19, is the 1994 Miss American Angus and received the awards at the 1994 show in Reno, Nev. She is the daughter of Richard and Sharon Sommers.

    Girl of the Year announcements were made recently at the Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church. SSM, the girls' organizational arm of the church which fosters service opportunities and creative learning for the individual girl, will hold its district level contest this week at the Indiana District Conference at Oakwood Park, Syracuse.

Representing the local church in the Girl of the Year activities will be Marilyn Austin, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Gordon Austin. Marilyn is a senior at Lakeland Christian Academy and will represent the local Charis group which includes girls of high school age.

    Isidoros Carnegis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Angel Carnegis, of East Main Street, was recently elected to the steward's office of the Kappa Delta Rho social fraternity, Purdue University, where Isidoros is a junior in the school of aeronautical engineering. In addition to his being steward, he is a member of the Arnold Air Society.
