The Teacher Education Department of Grace College has announced that Robert Harris, Warsaw, and Todd Davis, Zionsville, have been selected to receive the Outstanding Prospective Teacher Award for 1988. The award is based upon the students' performance during student teaching, which took place during the fall of 1987.
Trooper Melvin Keplinger, Claypool, attached to the Ligonier Post, and assigned patrol duties in Kosciusko County, received a safe driving award for completing 500,000 accident-free miles. The award was presented at the semi-annual inspection of personnel and equipment held at Ligonier District 21 headquarters.
John Perry, senior at Warsaw High School, was awarded a $100 scholarship to Butler University for the 1948-49 school year, Principal James Riley said today. The young man is the son of Mrs. Vesta Perry, Winona Lake.
Miss Esther Melick, daughter of Homer Melick, Washington D.C., formerly of Etna Green, will sing from the Washington broadcasting station Wednesday. Miss Melick, winner of two preliminary vocal contests, has earned the right to compete in the national contest, the winner of which will be given a fine contract for grand opera work.
