    PIERCETON - The Marching Pride of Whitko High School took top marching band honors in international competition at Myrtle Beach, S.C., over the weekend.

The Marching Pride was first out of the 27 bands from around the country that participated in the event. Whitko's band also did well in the concert band portion of the competition, finishing third.

    The winners in the Warsaw Optimist Art contest are Kathy Haack, grand prize winners; Rose Long, first in the senior high category; Sandy Biltz, first in the junior high category; Holly Schuler, second place, junior high category; and Debbie Rogers, third place, junior high.

    The Bob Meaders (South Buffalo) are moving May 19, to their new Little Chapman Lake home, where Mrs. Meade will be able to fish to her heart's content. The former Josephine Washburn, of Warsaw and Columbia City, Mrs. Meade is one of this area's most enthusiastic women anglers.

    A large electric locomotive passed through Warsaw on the Pennsylvania at 9:30 o'clock this morning from Chicago to the Pennsylvania shops at Altoona, Pa., where it will be used as a model in building locomotives. The peculiar tone of the whistle attracted considerable attention.
