    SYRACUSE - After 34 years of coaching track and cross country, Jerry Minton is retiring.

For the last 27 years, Minton has been the boys' track coach at Wawasee. He is the only boys' track coach in the history of the high school and has been the boys' cross country coach the last 24 years. He is also the only girls' cross country coach Wawasee has ever had.

    Nineteen men from Kosciusko County were among the 175-member Elmer H. Parker Memorial Class receiving the 32nd Degree at the fall convocation of the Scottish Rite. New members are James L. Kaufman, Rev. Francis M. Cramer, Robert D. Allen, Wallace W. Huffman, Michael S. Cox, Robert W. Bishop; Harry E. Minnick, Denzel L. Archer, Terry L. Moore, Richard S. Thomas, Carl A. Boles, Fred T. Kinch, Dan D. Ransbottom, Gerald D. Kyler, Gary K. Love, John W. Hoffhien, Steve P. Briggs, George R. Marchand and Dewitt L. Stafford.

    Kathleen Hahn has been named valedictorian and Connie Fervida, salutatorian, of the Nappanee High School graduating class of 48 seniors who will receive diplomas May 24.

Kathleen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Hahn, Etna Green, and Connie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Fervida, Milford.

    Mrs. John Matchett entertained her bridge club Friday afternoon. Prizes were won by Bertie Moser, first; second by Mrs. R.A. Belote; and the consolation prize was given to Berniece Noble.
