    First Free Will Baptist Church held its ground breaking ceremony on Sunday with 300 people in attendance. The new church building will have a capacity of 500 with a fellowship hall and Sunday school room to accommodate. The new church will be located on County Farm Road and 700S.

    Burl Haywood, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Burl Haywood, 717 N. Cook St., Warsaw, recently landed a 12-pound pike, ironically at Pike Lake. The fish was 3 feet long and it took 30 minutes to land it. Haywood was using a red and white spoon for bait.

    Marine Staff Sgt. George Evans, son of Mrs. Orvilla Evans, 416 S. Indiana St., Warsaw, has been awarded the Marine Corps Institute certificate for his completion of a course on modern criminal investigation. Test of the course was written by the chief inspector of the New York City Police Department, together with eminent European criminologists.

May 4 1924

    Mrs. Summers, West Fort Wayne St., whose old tabby, the oldest cat in the United States, died recently now has some new kittens. Recently some one presented Summers, who is about 80, with a fine tomcat. A few days ago the supposed tomcat proved to be not that kind of a kitty and is mothering a litter of half a dozen wooly pussies.
