    Walt Rugner has been named senior sales engineer for the business marketing organization at Sprint/United Telephone-Centel.

Ruegner joined the company in 1973 and held various engineering positions over the years. He was promoted to sales support specialist in Warsaw in 1991 and then to voice sales application support engineer in 1993.

    Three Warsaw firemen attended fire investigation classes for one week at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Md.

Firemen Mike Hollar, Jon Swoverland and Pete Gatke attended classes there from April 21-25. The course is designed to help firefighters determine the causes of fires.

    Alice Ann Steele, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Steele, South High Street, will be clarinet soloist for the spring concert scheduled for Tuesday evening in the high school auditorium by junior and senior high school bands under the direction of Bazil O'Reilley.

    John A. Sloane, prominent Warsaw attorney and former Mayor of the City of Warsaw, was named president of Lake City Bank of Warsaw to succeed the late J.W. Coleman.

Sloane has been identified with the bank since 1915 as a director and attorney for the institution.
