    Mentone recently acquired a new attraction in the form of a IUH-1H helicopter. The Huey was delivered to the Lawrence D. Bell Aircraft Museum by Frank and Rita Runion of K&B Trucking.

Museum President Gerald Romine said this is the biggest thing to happen to Mentone since the mini-mart got new gas pumps.

    Marine Pfc. Randy A. Ingle, son of Dorothy L. Ingle, Warsaw, has been awarded a Meritorious Mast while serving with the 7th Motor Transport Battalion, Camp Pendelton, Calif.

A Meritorious Mast is official recognition from an individual's commanding officers for superior individual performance.

May 30 1956

    Mattie Dunnuck, 77, of our town, who recently mashed her finger in a wringer while doing her washing, really is made of pioneer stuff. To get her fingers free, she dismantled the wringer, reassembled it, and proceeded to take a bath and change clothes before she called a taxi and rode calmly to Murphy Medical Center for treatment. Dunnuck stated to hospital attendants that her daughter had gone to Indianapolis for the day, so she was tired of doing nothing and decided to do the washing.

    Forty-five Army planes, in groups of five each, passed over the Kosciusko County courthouse at 2 p.m., en route from Chicago to Dayton.
