    For the first time since 1984 the Warsaw Community High School girls track team has won a sectional championship.

The Tigers withstood an early surge by Elkhart Memorial and claimed the victory with a win in the final relay of the night as the Tigers outscored the Chargers 85-82 for the team title at the WCHS track.

    Kent Hewitt has been named Valedictorian and Rachel Sill is Salutatorian of the 1976 Triton High School class, according to Howard Liggett, principal.

Hewitt is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hewitt, Rt. 1, Tippecanoe, and Sill is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Sill, Tippecanoe.

    Carolyn Bowen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bowen, Burket, has been notified by the state 4-H Club office that she has won a 4-H scholarship to the Purdue University school of home economics.

Carolyn is one of 12 girls in the state to win such an award.

    Charles Ruse, maintenance superintendent of the Winona interurban lines, has just been granted a patent for railway tie construction, according to news from Washington, D.C., bureau of patents. Ruse has been working on such an invention for the past 20 years and has had previous patients on cement railway ties.
