May 27 1994

    Warsaw Community High School has announced the top students for the class of 1994.

Two students claim top honors for the class: Lane Armey, son of Mike and Dinah Armey, and Andrea Ellis, daughter of Carl and Pat Ellis, were named the valedictorians. Todd Hofstra was named salutatorian. He is the son of Ken and Kathie Hofstra. They all reside in Warsaw.

May 27 1979

    A Warsaw man, Rick Wallen, was fishing on Winona Lake when he found a balloon floating on the lake at about 3 p.m.

The balloon had been sent that morning by a girl from the McCleary School in Aurora, Ill., as part of a contest to see how far each balloon would travel. The girl wrote that she had finished a reading contest at school and asked the person finding the balloon to return information on how far it had traveled.

May 27 1954

    Rene Shue, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Shue, Winona Lake, has been elected secretary of the 1955 student executive council at Ball State College, Muncie.

Shue has been the freshman representative on the council this past year.

May 27 1929

    AKRON - Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunn of Georgetown, Ohio, arrived at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ira Smith, after a parting of 15 years. Neither know the other's whereabouts until a letter came to Mrs. Dunn in Ohio from the home at Cincinnati. They were both taken from a children's home and placed with foster parents.
