    Alison Gawthrop and Heather Bailey have been named valedictorian and salutatorian respectively of the class of 1995 of Manchester High School.

At Triton High School, Rebecca Rettinger was declared valedictorian for the class of 1995 and Jennifer Lemler is the salutatorian.

May 27 1980

    Neal Frantz, who will play baseball for Grace College next spring, will get an early baptism in high-caliber competition this summer as he joins the Athletes In Action team for its 30-game tour through several countries.

Frantz, a senior at Whitko High School, is one of only two prep baseball players chosen for the team, which consists primarily of collegians, including players from such powers as Southern California and Arizona.

    Mrs. Forrest Jobe, Poppy chairman, presented the winners in the Poppy poster contest with their checks from the American Legion Auxiliary. They are: Kent Wright, first in Class I, for younger children; Tim Fifer, second in Class I; Mary Kathryn Evans, first in Class II, for junior high school students; and Judy Stinger, second in Class II.

May 27 1930

    Mrs. Harriet Phillips, of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Jacob D. Baylie, of Stratton, Neb., twins, observed their 92nd birthday anniversary May 22. She formerly resided on a farm three miles northwest of Warsaw. Baylie went to Nebraska from Indiana in 1858 when the former state still was a territory.
