    The winners of the Bourbon Summerfest poster contest have been announced. Winners received $50 savings bonds, and a packet of art supplies was given to the runners-up. Daniel Sellers and Ansley Nordmann were runners-up and Josh Brown and Kirk Bates won firsts.

May 26 1981

    Warsaw Community Schools bus drivers were honored at a Safety Awards Banquet held at Wongs Restaurant. The banquet was sponsored by the Indiana Insurance Co. to recognize individuals with accident-free driving records.

Judy Dobbins received the Bus Driver of the Year award.

50 Years Ago

May 26 1956

    Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hughes and Mrs. A.L. (Marga) Witmer, all of Winona Lake, were among 47 immigrants admitted to United States citizenship in ceremonies held in the federal court at Fort Wayne.

Robert and Blanche Hughes are natives of Toronto, Canada, entering this country seven years ago. Marga Witmer, whose husband is purchasing agent at Dalton Foundries, is a native of Essen, Germany. She came to this country in September 1950.

75 Years Ago

May 26 1931

    A big mushroom measuring 11 inches in length, 9 in circumference and weighing more than 8 ounces, was found by Sam Franks, on his farm just east of the Menzie school, 5 miles east of Warsaw. After exhibiting his big fungus and 64 other large ones in a basket at Pierceton, he returned to his automobile to find them stolen. A person who witnessed the theft helped Franks recover them from another car. There will be no prosecution. The thief is a friend of Franks.
