May 26 1994

    Wawasee senior Andy Kryder was honored by Farm Bureau Insurance for winning the IHSAA's Mental Attitude Award at the 1994 Boys' Swimming State Finals. The son of Roger and Marge Kryder of Syracus won a state title in the 100 freestyle to lead Wawasee to a runner-up team finish. He is the team captain and MVP for the past three years.

    Bill and Marilyn Scheffer celebrated their first wedding anniversary in a rather unusual manner Saturday by participating in the Multiple Sclerosis Bike-Hike. the Scheffers, 1305 Fox Farm Road, made the six-mile ride in style on a bicycle built for two.

    George Smidenens placed seventh in the recent state geometry contest and Sue Henderson placed fourth in the recent state Latin contest. Both are students at Pierceton High School.

    Roy O. Bibler, while hunting mushrooms north of the city, found one monstrous mushroom 11-1/2 inches high, 18 inches in diameter and weighing one pound and five ounces.
