    A North Webster firm has been honored by the Indiana Corporation for Science and Technology.

Chem-Elect Inc., North Webster, developer of CHEMCARD, was one of five corporations honored with the Chomolungma Award. The award is given to five companies annually for firms that have exceeded $1 million in sales.

    Scholastic achievement medals were presented at an awards day program to five Whitko High School students by The Times-Union and Radio Stations WRSW AM and FM.

Receiving awards were Leah Hartman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hartman, Pierceton, foreign language; Bruce Bryant, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Wendell Bryant, Pierceton, mathematics; Amy McVay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William McVay, South Whitley, English; Gail Germann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al Germann, South Whitley, social studies; and John McCammon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bryon McCammon Jr., South Whitley, science.

    A long-standing record in the mixed bowling league in Warsaw was broken last night in the league's final games. The Rs team, composed of Everett Rasor, Ellen Rasor, Elizabeth Robinson and Herb Robinson, rolled a series of 2,335 pins, counting handicaps, to break their former record of 2,320 pins for the three games. The Rs also broke their league single game record of 822 pins by rolling an 833 game, counting handicaps. The actual score for the four bowlers in the game was 699 pins. Their actual series score was 1,918 pins.

    Carl Hanson a few days ago picked up a check found in lake waters at Winona, payable to D.E. Smith, drawn on May 18, 1912, in favor of D.E. Smith, of Warsaw, by the Winona Mercantile Co. It was for $43 and had never been cashed, state the bank.
