Amy Becker and Tim Nicholas have been chosen as valedictorian and salutatorian respectively of the class of 1996 of Warsaw Community High School.
Pvt. 1 John W. Pifer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Pifer, Milford, recently received a parachutist badge upon completion of the three-week airborne course at the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Ga.
Chester C. Cooley, of Chicago, broke ground at the location of the new Da-Lite Screen Co. plant which will be erected north of Warsaw on the east side of Ind. 15. Cooley is president of the firm. The new plant, expected to employ about 200 persons, will be built at a cost of approximately $650,000.
Carmen Elizabeth Siewert, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. S.A. Siewert, this city, has been awarded a gold medal for receiving the highest recommendation from a board of critics at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, before whom she sang on Friday. Siewert, student at the Conservatory, will receive her bachelor of music in piano degree and bachelor of music in composition degree in June.
