    A trio of area competitors captured individual championships Tuesday night during the Northern Lakes Conference Girls Track Meet at Northridge High School. Wawasee's Sue Setlak won the high jump and long jump titles, while teammate Emily Matz won the 400. Warsaw's Leslie Miles was NLC champion in the discus.

    The Tigers came from a nine-stroke deficit after nine holes to snare a 330-337 Northern Lakes Conference victory over Goshen.

It marked Warsaw Community High School golf coach Joe Harris' 200th win against only 43 losses in a 14-year career and was probably the highlight match in the area.

    Gene W. Flora, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Flora, East Fort Wayne Street, has been promoted to private first class at Fort Campbell, Ky., where he is attending basic airborne school, which will qualify him as a paratrooper.

    Jack Ferguson won second place in the 220-yard dash in the athletic sectional tournament held at South Bend.

Ferguson and Lynn Leas were the star men on the team.
