    WEST LAFAYETTE - Stephanie Sue Cripe, a Purdue University senior, has received the Financial Executive Institute Outstanding Senior in Accounting award.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Cripe, Warsaw.

    Postal Clerk Mary Hoffman, of the Silver Lake Post Office, was presented a plaque by the Kokomo Sectional Center manager, Richard Gerhard, for her suggestion of a name for the sectional center employees monthly newsletter.

The name she submitted was "The SCF 469 Link." The chain link design symbolizes the linking of post offices and postal people as the links in the chain necessary to move the mail.

May 18 1951

    Bob Wiles, Nappanee, won the feature stock car race Sunday afternoon at the New Paris Speedway. Wiles also crossed the finish line first in a feature race which was held due to a rainout postponement of the previous Sunday. During this latter race, cars driven by Don Wooten, Cowboy Likes and Gale Smith, Warsaw, tangled on the west turn and all three went over the high wall. However, there were no injuries.

    ROCHESTER - Fulton County and Rochester will shortly be in possession of an immense German artillery gun, a captured trophy. This became definitely know when, following a special meeting of the American Legion post here, a long distance telephone conversation was held with Senator Arthur Robinson at Washington, D.C., and he notified the members that the gun would be loaded and shipped at once from the arsenal at New York City.
