    Amy Swihart, a fifth-grade teacher at Akron Elementary School, recently was named Fulton County Educator of the Year.

Swihart, of Warsaw, was nominated for the award by her peers, parents of her students and members of the community. The award recognizes her many contributions to children through education.

May 17 1981

    Ron Brandenburg and Kelly Hanft are all smiles after being crowned king and queen of the 1981 Warsaw Community High School prom. Brandenburg is the son of Emery and Carole Brandenburg, Warsaw, and Hanft is the daughter of Don and Mary Hanft, Warsaw.

    Selected as winners of the Warsaw Kroger store's anniversary sale prizes were Henry Nyenhuis, electric roaster; Mrs. Fred Detwiller, electric frying pal; J.W. Klein, picnic set; Mrs. Paul Burht, Scotch cooler; Jeanette Ragan, car bag; Katherine Evans, electric bean pot; and Mrs. Wayne Hepler, electric warmer.


75 Years Ago

May 17 1931

    A pair of monkeys are now on exhibition at the Winona Zoo, a gift to the park by the Warsaw Kiwanis Club. Last year, two monkeys were given the institution by the Kiwanis. One of the pair died, which has now been replaced.
