May 17 1990

    1990 PIG (Police Invitational Golf) outing was held at South Shore Golf Course recently. Participants were current and retired employees of all city and county police, fire and EMS departments. Indiana State Police and Indiana Conservation officers assigned to Kosciusko County also played. The winning team was made up of Mike Safen, John Sadler and Rob Gearhart.

May 17 1975

    Three Leesburg sailors were high place finishers in last weekend's seventh annual Michigan frost bite sailing races.

It was neither frosty nor bitey, though, as John Bundy, Jim Murray and Dave Reider took second, third and fourth, respectively, in the Super Porpoise races under sunny skies. Arnold Rustenholtz, the National Super Porpoise champion from Kalamazoo, Mich., was the overall winner.

May 17 1950

    The warm weather made for lounging in the streets and swelled the gallery watching the pouring of the basement floor of Breading's new building between the old store and the Elks Building. Al Hodges' Readi-Mix cement truck dumped the concrete down a wooden chute into wheelbarrows for transportation to the back of the basement. The floor had been poured by mid-afternoon but the gallery still persisted, standing around watching the slab as though expecting a floor show.

    A goodly number attended the benefit program given at the Methodist Church for the Salvation Army. A vocal duet was given by Mesdames W.I. Pierce and E.B. Smith, solos by Harold Hillegas, Charles Naftzger and Edith Ross, readings by Josephine Chapman, instrumental duet by Frank McConnell and E.B. Fund and saxophone solo by Paul Kain were very well received by the audience.
