    Tasha Carr, daughter of Mike and Len May, Warsaw, has been named to the U.S. Achievement Academy for her work in English.

Carr, a student at Edgewood Middle School, was nominated for the national award by Karen Anderson, English teacher. Carr's picture and biography will appear in the Academy's official yearbook, published nationally.

    The Tri-County Bassmasters Bass Club, North Webster, recently held its first tournament for 1978. The tourney was held on Tippecanoe Lake with 33 anglers entered. The local club, with members from North Webster, Warsaw and Marion areas, defeated the Auburn Club for the second time, but by a mere three ounces. Kevin Plummer placed first with 115 points and Chuck Plummer, Warsaw, placed second with 105 points.

    Ed Gregory, a freshman at Manchester College and son of Mr. and Mrs. James Gregory, Sidney, has been elected as a member of the Community Council of Manchester College. This is a very honorable position in that it is the governing body of the college.

May 17 1928

    The county Bible memory contest held in Atwood on Wednesday evening at the U.B. Church was won by Virginia Mellencamp, of the Warsaw/Winona district.

At the same time, the Bible story-telling contest was held. Franklin Morgan, Prairie Township, was the winner.
