The education department at Grace College has selected Kimberly Cox, Delphi, and Tami Williamson, Warsaw, to receive the college's Outstanding Prospective Teacher award for 1990.
For the fourth time, dual G.F. Phillips Cecilian awards were presented to two senior members of the Warsaw Community High School Choir. The award is presented annually to a senior choir member with outstanding attitude, loyalty, musicianship and scholarship. Presented by Mr. and Mrs. G. Freeland Phillips, the awards went to Chuck Bunnell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Bunnell, 312 N. West St., Warsaw, and Mark Cummings, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cummings, 903 S. Lake St., Warsaw.
Forrest Dunnuck and Frieda Walters, students in the Nappanee Community High School, placed first and second respectively in the Americanism essay contest sponsored by the third district of the American Legion auxiliary. Their essays, on the subject "The Rights We Defend," have been entered in the state Americanism essay contest. They were among the 60 pupils from the Nappanee High School to submit entries in the contest.
County Health Officer Dr. P.G. Fermier, Leesburg, and Dr. O.H. Richer, Warsaw, have returned from Indianapolis, where they attended the instruction meeting held by the state board of health for all health officials. Dr. Fermier on this occasion attended his 23rd annual meeting. He reports one case of smallpox in the county now. This last of the mild epidemic is located in Claypool vicinity.
