    The Tiger Pride Concert Band finished fourth Saturday in finals of a state band competition in Indianapolis. This was the fourth year for the state concert band finals and the first time Warsaw qualified.

    Receiving awards for the most artful kites entered in the Scout kite flying contest are Tracey Terrell, Pack 3736, first place; Peter Abernathy, Pack 3736, second; and Paul Seigfreid, Pack 3799, third.

    A local angler reports that Center Lake is full of bass. Fly-fisherman that he is, and what with the closed season on bass, of course, he didn't keep any of the 12 nice ones he ran onto the other evening. So thick he had to fight 'em off. Imagine!

    Warsaw's "Girls of Seventy," an organization here a few years ago embracing in its membership ladies of this city 70 years and up, and of which the late Mrs. Dr. Pearman was for many years the guiding spirit of the organization, is mentioned in one of the late books written by Amelia Barr, the well-known author, who passed away some time ago, some of her books being issued following her death, "Three Score and Ten" being one of them.
