    After sacrificing weeknights and weekends for years for basketball, Whitko High School senior Chad Christman's big picture is finally coming into focus.

Christman, the son of Steven and Tanya Christman, recently signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, Mich. Christman will receive a full scholarship and a $500 Dean's scholarship to attend the NCAA Division II school.

    Teresa Johnson and Deborah Calhoun have been named co-valedictorians of the Whitko High School 1974 graduating class. Nancy Dome is the salutatorian.

Johnson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnson, Calhoun Street, South Whitley; Calhoun is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Calhoun, Rt. 1, Warsaw; and Dome is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dome, Rt. 2, Pierceton.

    Mary Ann Wertenberger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wertenberger, Sr., Rt. 3, Warsaw, has been chosen to attend Hoosier Girl's State under the sponsorship of Menzie-Reece Unit 258, American Legion Auxiliary, Pierceton. Mary Ann is a junior in the Pierceton High School and was recommended by Howard Stauffer, principal of the school, for her scholarship, leadership, good moral character, responsibility, personality and willingness to cooperate.

    Juna Harmon, Warsaw, won the essay contest at the Purdue roundup at Lafayette on Thursday. Warsaw won first in both the canning and wound bandaging contests and individual honors. Katherine Thompson won the latter honors. The loving cup will be retained permanently by Warsaw since Warsaw girls have won it three times.
