    Thursday Bridge Club met April 29 at the Viewpoint for its final meeting of the winter season.

Prizes were awarded for the year: first place, Rosalee Spear; second place, Joelyn Hepler; and third place, Leora Fuller. The highest single score for the year was won by Virginia Stone.

    MINNEAPOLIS - Indiana high school boys basketball is famous all over the country, but it's the Hoosier gals from Warsaw who are listed among the top teams in a national survey.

Art Johifs' National Sports News Service lists Warsaw's Indiana state girls champions third in the country - behind Lowndes County, Valdosta, Ga., and Lee, New Haven, Conn.

    A 30-inch rattlesnake was killed early Tuesday morning by Roy Thompson and his son, Ted, 13, of Monoquet, while they were hunting for mushrooms in a field near the Tippecanoe River.

They had found one mushroom when Ted spotted the snake, coiled in brush a few feet away. He has killed one rattler in the field every spring for eight years.

    Lt. Milo D. Snyder, Cromwell, officer of the Warsaw National Guard infantry company, won the individual championship 50 foot offhand, any sights, 20 shots, rifle indoor contest in the Indiana state indoor shoot at Culver Military Academy with a score of 171 out of possible 200.

He also won the re-entry offhand 10 shots, any sights, 50-foot, rifle match with a score of 89 out of a possible 100.
