    The long-awaited opening of the new Marsh grocery store is expected to be May 21.

The new store will be one of the most modern of the two dozen or so owned by the grocery chain, but the new South Buffalo Street store will hold on to at least one old memory. The store will use one of those older, traditional looking signs at the corner of South Buffalo Street and Winona Avenue.

    Linda Marie Coplen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Coplen, Rt. 2, Akron, has been initiated into Phi Eta Sigma, a freshman honor society, at Indiana University. The honor of being included in this small group is the most distinctive that can come as a freshman at Indiana University. Linda is a graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School.

    Bob Wiles, Syracuse, won the 25-lap feature event Sunday afternoon at the inaugural program of the New Paris Speedway stock car races.

Rain and threatening weather held the crowd down to approximately 1,000.

May 13 1928

    A.T. Griffith, A.O. Lehman, V.E. Currey and C.H. Hughes of Warsaw attended the reunion of the 157th Indiana regiment of Spanish-American war veterans Sunday at Auburn. This is the regiment which was known as "Studebaker's Tigers." The number registered before noon was 327. Several stragglers arrived in the afternoon. About 75 members of other regiments were guests at the reunion.
