    A former Tippecanoe Valley standout now has the task of leading the Viking football team into the 1990s. The Tippecanoe Valley school board hired Scott Bibler as its head coach.

The 1982 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley was a standout player in both high school and college. He played for three years under coach Charles Smith and was a sophomore when the Vikings won the state championship in 1979.

    Capt. Phillip D. Stevens, of Rt. 1, Leesburg, was presented with the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal in ceremonies at the Huntington National Guard Armory recently.

Capt. Stevens displayed exemplary behavior, efficiency and fidelity while serving as X.O. (Executive Officer) of Company A Indiana Army National Guard at Hartford City during the period June 9, 1969, to June 8, 1973.

    Ground was broken for the immediate construction of a new plant to house Warsaw's newest industry, the Joyner Corp., manufacturers of radio and television parts, it was announced by Roger Dunn, executive secretary of the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce.

The city's newest manufacturing industry is expected to employ between 300 and 500 persons and will be erected on South Buffalo Street, behind the Crystal Dairy and Dairy Bar.

    The new J.M. Turner, Warsaw-Palestine, "Devil's Backbone" cement road has caused a business boom in Palestine. A new garage and filling station is being erected there by the son-in-law of Eph Altenberg. The Mendell store and Merl Yocum both operate gas stations there now.
