Chris Eleiott, Jeremy Sharp and Aaron Wishart won the AWANA Northwest Indiana Quiz Finals recently in Hobart. Sharp also was named the top quizzer in the Pals competition. The boys are all from the AWANA program at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church.
Jason Zimmerman, 8, and Paul Wiley, 10, finished second and fifth, respectively, in the Optimist Club's Tri-Star basketball skills contest at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis.
Joan Bumbaugh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Judd Bumbaugh, Gilliam Street, is a French horn player in the University of Miami band. She has written her folks that the band will be featured on a national radio show under the direction of Paul Lavalle.
Mrs. Harry Mackey was pleasantly surprised at her home in Burket, the occasion being in honor of her birthday anniversary. Those present besides the honor guest were Mr. and Mrs. Andy Bear, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Anderick, Mr. and Mrs. Sankey Vorhis, and Mrs. Edna Ringle and son Nelson.
