March is Disabilities Awareness Month across America. To help draw attention to the need for accessibility in the community, Mayor Jeff Plank recently conducted a Warsaw Board of Works meeting from a wheelchair.
Robert Provost was the first prize winner in biology and was also awarded grand prize for the entire science fair held at Jefferson School, Winona Lake. His project was, "What are the different states in hatching an egg?" Dan Kent took first place in the physics category and also a grand prize for the fair. His project was, "What does an electric motor need to run?" The winners will go on to the regional fair at South Bend on March 15.
Estil Bemenderfer, Akron, a former state trooper well known in Kosciusko County, has filed his candidacy for the nomination of sheriff of Fulton County on the Democratic ticket. Bemenderfer is president of the famed Akron Johan club.
Nibbling of the end of a match by a mouse is believed the cause of a small fire which occurred last evening about 8 o'clock at 548 E. Main St., home of O.L. Shepler, Warsaw-Winona street car conductor. The fire department was called but arrived after the small blaze was extinguished on the top shelf of the cupboard. A burned match and burned paper bits, evidently nibbled by the mouse, were found on the shelf.
