    Four retiring and two resigning firemen were honored recently in Winona Lake. They are Dick Taylor, Bob Myers and Dick Haines, 18 years of service; Morrey Hester, 10 years; Troy Haines, nine years; and Brian Haines, six years. Each fireman was presented with a shadowbox with their badge and a certificate of appreciation from the town of Winona Lake.

March 7 1980

    Seventeen-year-old Gary Kaiser rolled the season's best series in the senior division of the junior bowling league at Holiday Lanes with a 692.

Game scores were 277, 169 and 246. His average is 168 per game.

50 Years Ago

March 7 1955

    An interesting incident occurred at the Navy Recruiting branch station in Warsaw recently. An applicant for the U.S. Navy was being processed for enlistment and when he showed local Recruiting Officer Frances Lehman his draft registration the recruiter was astonished. This is the description of the registrant, color of eyes - grey; color of hair - brown; complexion - fair; height - 10 feet, 1/2 inches.


75 Years Ago

March 7 1930

    J.S. Gault, of Atwood, celebrated his 83rd birthday anniversary March 11. He transacted business in Warsaw and called at the Daily Times office. Gault has been a subscriber of the Times for the last 50 years.
