    Baker Boys Club won the Zone 1 championship Saturday by defeating South Bend in the 9- and 10-year-old division by a 34-12 score.

Leading the scoring for the BBC were: Ryan Andrews 11, Matt Churchill 8, Willie Green 6, Craig Harmon 5, Ryan Hernandez 3 and Jamie Elliott 1. Cory Patrick and Brandon Roberts were also on the team but did not score.

    NAPPANEE - Warsaw's Middle School wrestling team ran its record to 5-1 on the season here last night downing NorthWood 109-26.

Recording pins for Warsaw were Scott Hutcherson, John Holle, Tony Elliott, Greg Sasso, Chris Kehler, Henry Ford, Gene Sanchez, Dan Hampton, Chris Cusick, Eric Sebo, Rob Reneker, Tony Deeter, Dan Fenix and Tom Lowe. Picking up decisions were Mike Stahley, Ross Williams, Ken Allen, Randy Brandon, Terry Puckett, Gerry Miller, Mike Hagg and Pat Landrigan.

    Add another automatic fire-alarm town to the county list. Since installation of the dial system at Atwood a few weeks ago the fire siren has been touched off at least three times accidentally when people dialing the Creighton Brothers establishment got a little off key and dialed the fire station number, which is similar. The same thing has been going on for years at Claypool and Silver Lake. Even yet the citizens in those towns haven't reconciled to the situation, particularly the volunteer firemen.

    Although March came in like a lion, and therefore is expected to go out like a lamb, many Warsaw gardeners reported that as a result of the warm weather of last Sunday tulip, crocus and some other hardy plants have made their appearance. In the yard of Alvin Robinson, South Buffalo Street, tulip plants are now two inches above the ground.
