    Sandra Carmichael, guidance counselor at Tippecanoe Valley High School, received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award at the recent Indiana Association for Counseling and Development state meeting.

    Kim Cripe, Wawasee's outstanding running back the past two seasons, has become the first Warrior to receive a "full ride" from a Big 10 school. Cripe will attend Purdue University on a four-year football scholarship.

    Herbert Gawthrop Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. H.V. Gawthrop, Leesburg, left Friday for Pittsburg, Kan., where he has accepted a position as research chemical engineer with the Spencer Chemical Co. He recently received his degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University, Lafayette.

March 5 1923

    With the 12-inch ice which covered nearby lakes disappearing rapidly and the lakes partly open, bass began biting here on all kinds of lures on Saturday. Jim Snyder, Warsaw plasterer, hooked three big ones weighing over 3 pounds each and five smaller ones at Winona Lake on Saturday. Merl McGlennon, also of this city, brought in a good catch.
