    Five players from local teams made Hoosier Basketball Magazine's top 100 senior boys high school basketball performers for the '94-'95 season.

Those named to the top 100 include Manchester's Brian Carr and Tim Pitts, Whitko's Jason and Jeremiah Stewart and Warsaw's Brodie Ewert.

    They're a far cry from two peas of the same pod, but Randy Heisler, Warsaw's brute of a 6-3 center, and Neal Frantz, Whitko's smooth as silk 5-11 guard, have more in common than one might think.

The main item they have in common is Times-Union Player of the Year status. For the first time in the four-year history of the award, the honor goes to two different players.

March 5 1955

    Susan Wolfe, third grade student at Sidney, was presented with her winning essay in the Shrine Circus essay contest and $10 in cash from Frank Harrison and Howard Kring, Warsaw Shriners.

Susan's essay about the bears, which she enjoyed most at the Shrine Circus in Fort Wayne, was judged first by the ladies of the Shrine. The front cover of her story was decorated with a circus scene.

March 5 1930

    Franklin Cole, of Winona Lake, is a member of a very successful debating team at DePauw University, where his a member of the senior class. The team departed from the school Wednesday on a debating tour. Cole is the son of Mrs. John Rowe, of Winona Lake.
