Fourth-grader Eric Miller was one of 92 Lincoln Elementary students who participated in "Jump Rope for Heart." Students worked in teams to jump rope for 1-1/2 hours, with team members alternating every two minutes. Lincoln students raised $2,300 for the American Heart Association.
The Warsaw Community High School novice debate team of Paige Mock and Brad Bartol tied for fifth place at the novice state debate tournament, which was held at Lafayette Jefferson High School.
Carolyn Foster, a member of the senior class of Pierceton High School, won a first place rating with a soprano solo in the recent state school music contest, held at Indianapolis.
Lillie and Sarah Minear, of near Claypool, won a 31-piece set of "Rose Marie" dishes given away by the Adams & Funk Pharmacy to the chicken raisers using a chicken feed and who secured the greatest number of eggs in a given length of time. The Minear sisters have Buff Minorea hens. The record card for these hens will be sent to Indianapolis, where it will compete with records of other local chicken winners. The winner of the state trophy will enter a national contest. These contests have been sponsored by the "Egg-a-day" chicken feed company.
