Lydia Shively was first place winner in the third round of competition in the "Elks Hoop Shoot" free throw contest at Kokomo last weekend for the 10-11-year-old girls' section.
Sandra Adams, 12, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. DeVerle Adams, Atwood, will be a very special girl for the next few weeks. She has been selected Kosciusko County Easter Seal child, representing handicapped children in the county who have received Easter Seal money.
Miss Donna Jean Aker, Warsaw, was one of 21 students at Stephens College chosen to membership recently in Delta Signa, honorary science sorority. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy H. Aker, 1309 E. Center St.
Early this morning when the sun came out brightly, East Center Street residents noted the annual appearance in that particular section of a redbird - a cardinal grosbeak - which for the past five or six years has been arriving in that particular locality. This finest of bird songsters for several successive seasons has daily entertained the residents of that section from about this time in the year until migration time.
