    The round face, beard and smirky smile are a dead giveaway for almost anyone who sees Randy Niles. The Kosciusko County Highway Department employee won a weekend golfing trip to Traverse City, Mich., after being named the people's choice winner at a look-alike contest in Fort Wayne.

Afterward, the Syracuse man donned a flannel shirt, tool belt and the characteristic salute that rounds out his mirror image of Home Improvement's Al Borland.

March 31 1981

    As the last seconds of the most successful season in Warsaw boy's basketball history ticked away, team members watched from the bench. The Anderson Indians defeated the local favorites in the first game of the Indiana state basketball finals in Indianapolis by the score of 71-62.


50 Years Ago

March 31 1956

    John Ed Nine, of North Webster, has been promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant in the Quartermaster Department of the Purdue Band. He is a sophomore in the School of Pharmacy. John also has been elected co-chairman of Cary Hall, Unit C, in the forthcoming Mock Political Convention at Purdue.


75 Years Ago

March 31 1931

    Kosciusko County has donated more than 100 bushels of seed corn for drought stricken farmers of southern Indiana. Word was received in Warsaw the entire state has pledge 5,000 bushels of seed corn.

Announcement to this effect was made this morning by Alva Mellott, of Etna Green, president of the Kosciusko County Farm Bureau.
