    Triton's eighth-grade girls' basketball team ended its season with a perfect record this year. Team members were: Sarah Claxon, Bridgette Howell, Justina Reichert, Judy Brown, Kim Boyer, Sarah Holland, Michelle Yarian, Holly Schaetzle, Karen Cox, coach, Dale Rock, assistant coach, and Brandy Flory, manager.

    For Silver Lake residents who are 30 years old or young, Paul Sittler is the only town postmaster they've ever known.

But today, Postmaster Sittler is retiring, in accordance with a mandate from the U.S. Postal Service that states all employees age 70 must retire. Sittler says he doesn't want to quit, but "that's the rules."

    Operators of maple syrup camps in this county tell us that this has been the best maple syrup season for many and many a year. Freezing nights, warm days, have continued for weeks longer than usual, sending the sap up through the maple trees in larger quantities than usual. Kosciusko County maple syrup is selling for around $5 per gallon. Some of the larger maple syrup camps hereabouts report having made 500 gallons to 1,000 gallons and are still operating at capacity.

    A reunion of the L.A. Melick family was held here on Sunday at the Melick home, North Buffalo Street After the sumptuous reunion dinner it was found that the 10 Melicks weighed a total of 1,530 pounds.
