    MENTONE - Tippecanoe Valley quarterback/defensive back Quentin Law is one of only five players from Indiana to be awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Indiana Football Hall Of Fame.

The Hall awards the scholarship to one player in each of the five classes in Indiana. The scholarship is based on scholastic as well as athletic accomplishments.

    Handsome, talented Joe Staples, about 24, son of George and Corrine Staples, North Webster, recently cut a good country music record ... at Nashville ... and you just put this stereo disk on your player, and either sit and listen, or get up and shake around a little. Title of the record is "Memories of You" and he wrote the first song.

    Ed Severns and son, Ronald, Route 5, Warsaw, were winners in the seventh annual Hoosier spring barrow show at Indianapolis.

They exhibited purebred Durocs. They won eighth in heavyweight single barrow; second in lightweight single barrow; sixth and seventh in pens of three barrows; and first in get-of-sire.

    Word has just been received by Postmaster O.B. Kilmer that in the letting of the contract for the new Warsaw post office building to the Ideal Construction Co., of Gary, for $64,000, that the building will be constructed of stone.

The building is to be erected at Lake and Market streets.
