    WINONA LAKE - A pair of former Warsaw Tiger soccer standouts have signed letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic careers in the fall as members of the Grace College soccer program.

Goaltender Barry Andrew and teammate Brandt Burns both will join coach Bob Fortosis' team for the 1994 season.

    MILFORD - The 1979 Citizen-of-the-Year banquet held Saturday was an evening to remember for the family of Mr. and Mrs. Theo Beer of Milford.

When it came time to reveal who the community had selected as its citizen-of-the-year, the recipient was the Beers' grandson, Ned Speicher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis ("Mim") Speicher.

    T/Sgt. Leon D. Wise, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merl Wise, Route 3, was honored in a recent ceremony at Tokyo international airport, where he was awarded a certificate for outstanding proficiency and skill as an aerial engineer on transport aircraft.

Leon has logged more than 3,000 flying hours as an aerial engineer. Now stationed with the 1503rd air transport wing of MATS in Japan, he flies as a crew member to Saudi Arabia with stops en route in the Philippines, Saigon, Indo-China, Bangkok, Thailand, New Delhi, India, and Karachi, Pakistan.

    Milford, 1929 county champs who had been picked by careful observers to be sectional winners, lived up to all expectations by defeating their old hereditary rivals Leesburg, in the most exciting game of the tourney. The score at the final whistle was Milford, 25; Leesburg, 20.
