    WNIT television channel 34 will broadcast a special in connection with the National Nutrition Month that will have some local flavor. Marcia Adams, a former food columnist for the Times-Union, will be on the show Saturday shortly after 3:15 p.m.

    GREAT FALLS, Mont. - First Lieutenant Larry J. Hartman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gail B. Hartman of Rt. 1, Akron, has been certified as a missile combat crew commander at Malmstrom AFB, Mont.

Lt. Hartman, a missile launch officer with three years service, was recommended for upgrading by his wing commander after meeting all training and evaluation requirements.

    John Vance, 22, of Syracuse, received a silver medal as a personal gift from Pope Pius XII during an audience at the Vatican Feb. 17. News of the honor came in a recent letter to John's wife, the former Anna Lou Shively, of Leesburg.

John is the son of Mrs. Merle Neff, of Syracuse.

    A.L. Brunson, a farmer, residing near Silver Lake, is recovering his sight after having been totally blind for nearly a year. He is now able to discern objects clearly. During his blindness he in a measure kept up his farm work and even gathered corn from the field when he could not see the team of horses in front of him.
